Before you begin

Straight answers.

Everything below is the kind of thing you'd ask on the phone. If your question isn't here, it's the first thing we'll cover on your calibration call.

Most men start with the free Wilderness Gap assessment, then book a calibration call. On that call you and John design the program together — dates, goals, and which one fits. Enrollment and payment terms are settled there, in plain language, before anything is committed.
It's a real conversation — not a sales pitch. John learns what's going on for you and your family or your leadership, confirms which program fits, and starts shaping it around your specific situation. You'll leave the call with a clear plan, even if the honest answer is that this is not your season.
No prior experience required. John is a certified Wilderness First Responder with three decades in this terrain, and every activity is scaled to your group. Reasonable health helps, but the days are built to challenge you appropriately — not to break you.
The Moab Journey is designed for children ages 12 to 18 — the developmental window where a shared, demanding experience shapes the relationship most. If your child is just outside that range, raise it on your call and we'll advise honestly.
Never more than five father-child pairs on a Moab Journey, and a maximum of eight men on the Inner Forge. The depth of these conversations depends on the size, so we hold that line without exception.
Your program includes the coaching sessions, the wilderness chapter with all guided activities and technical gear, meals while you are out, and John's facilitation throughout. Travel to Moab and lodging are arranged separately today — though the forthcoming Executive Fly-Out package bundles everything into one seamless engagement.
Conversations touch on purpose, self-worth, and faith when the group welcomes it — always with respect and never with an agenda. Men of every background have found it meaningful. Your calibration call is the right place to talk through what feels right for you.
It's John's instrument for measuring the distance between who you believe you are, who your team experiences, and who your family lives with. Eight questions, about four minutes, free, and you get your profile immediately. Clients later complete the deeper multi-vantage version inside a program. Take it →
In and around Moab, Utah — red rock canyon country in the southeast corner of the state, near Arches and Canyonlands. The nearest major airports are Grand Junction (CO) and Salt Lake City. We'll cover logistics in detail on your call.
Life happens, and we plan for it. Rescheduling terms are covered clearly on your calibration call before any balance is due, so there are no surprises. Our aim is always to get you to the right program at the right time.
